England held to draw by Holland

Wayne Rooney played in a 0-0 draw
England were held to a 0-0 draw at Villa Park by Holland in a friendly.

Coach Sven Goran Eriksson gave Stewart Downing and Andy Johnson their first games at international level, but played them out of position.

Shaun Wright-Phillps also played and missed a couple of good chances, while Holland hit the post and had a goal disallowed as well.

The Republic of Ireland were also friendly winners, Andy O'Brien netting in a 1-0 win against Portugal.

Chelsea star Damien Duff was excellent against the losing finalist from the 2004 European Championship.

Holland and Portgual both played in special black and white kits in their games to show their support for an anti-racism campaign.

Russia also wore the kit in their friendly defeat to Italy.

Celtic's on-loan striker Craig Bellamy netted twice for Wales in a 2-0 win against Hungary, while Northern Ireland suffered a disappointing 1-0 loss at home to Canada.
