Teen's debut book sells thousands

There have been quite a few authors built up to be the next JK Rowling, but not many of them are only 13 years old.

Emma Maree Urqhart from Inverness is the latest publishing sensation, with her novel Dragon Tamers selling 50,000 copies in just six weeks.

The book is about a teenager playing a computer game, but if she dies in the game, she dies in real life.

Emma told The Times newspaper: "I enjoy writing. It's a lot of fun. My parents encouraged me to write."

She added that she's been writing stories for quite a while, but admits that Dragon Tamers is the best so far.

Her publisher thinks the book could sell as many as 100,000 copies in its first year on book shelves.

Emma is now working on another book about the same characters in the series.
