Celebs launch Red Nose Day 2005

Davina McCall and Konnie Huq
Loads of celebs have got together to launch Comic Relief's 10th Red Nose Day.

Lenny Henry, Dick and Dom, Davina McCall, Dawn French and Matt Lucas are among those backing the fundraiser that will take place on Friday 11 March.

The idea behind Comic Relief is to get people to raise money for projects in Africa and the UK.

The theme this year is 'Big hair and beyond...just do something!'

The new-look red nose has a head of colourful, rubbery hair and comes with face paints, stickers and red hair gel.

All sorts of goodies such as T-shirts, crisps, badges and hairspray will also be sold to raise cash for the charity.

Twenty five thousand schools took part last year and Blue Peter's Konnie Huq said: "Children are going to be playing a massive part in this year's Red Nose Day."

Schools can get special Red Nose Day kits to help with fundraising ideas.

There are loads of things planned for Red Nose Day 2005, and even more celebrities like Robbie Williams, George Michael and Elton John will be taking part.

There will be a themed week of Comic Relief in Da Bungalow and a series of Comic Relief Does Fame Academy.

McFly are releasing a single to raise money for the cause too.

Lenny Henry said: "We want it to be the biggest and best Red Nose Day ever!"
