Dog mobile phones 'coming soon'

A mobile phone to keep naughty pooches in check has been developed so you can chat to your pet and even keep an eye on it when you're not together.

The bone-shaped device comes in a waterproof case and clips on to your dog's collar. You can then dial your pet and chat away on a loudspeaker.

The device, called PetsCell, uses existing mobile technology and means owners can calm down lonely hounds.

And the top model also has a camera so you can see exactly what they're up to.

It's thought to be the first ever made for dogs.

Inventor Cameron Robb told The Sunday Times newspaper he came up with the idea when he overheard a friend chatting to his pet dog thousands of kilometres away on this phone.

"There's actually a need for it," he said.

Mr Robb hopes the gadget could also be used to reunite lost pets with their owners.

It's still being developed but is planned to go on sale in the US in the summer.

Makers hope to launch it in Britain soon.
