Why do some Muslims cover up?

The Qur'an says that Muslims should lower their gaze and dress modestly.

It says that women should cover their chest and their figure when they go out.

Men too should not wear figure hugging clothes and should be modest. They are not supposed to wear silk or gold either.

There is a wide variety of Muslim clothing and what Muslims wear often depends on what country they live in.

In some countries it is traditional to cover up completely.

Other countries follow other traditions and Muslims might not be expected to dress in any particular way.
