A man who thought he had toothache found he had accidentally shot himself up the nose with a nail gun.
Patrick Lawler, who works as a builder in Denver in the US, thought he'd simply banged his lip with a nail gun.
But when the pain in his mouth didn't go away, dentists X-rayed his skull and discovered the 10cm nail.
It was 4cm into his brain, and just missed his right eye. Doctors say he is very lucky. Patrick says he might start using a hammer in future.
Patrick seems to be doing well, even though he was in danger of brain damage or blindness.
Worryingly, the doctors said he wasn't the first person they'd treated who had shot themselves with a nail gun without realising.
