Girl survives huge cliff top fall

A six-year-old has girl survived a 50 metre fall from the top of a cliff with just cuts and bruises.

Demi-Leigh Tweddle tumbled over the edge of cliffs at Filey, North Yorkshire, and landed on the beach.

Her father scrambled down to help her while her mother rang for help. When doctors reached the scene, they found she was unconscious but in good shape.

Coastguard Mark Clark said: "This girl is a miracle child. She must be made of rubber to have survived."

Mike Puplett, watch manager at Humber Coastguard, said people should take extra care around cliffs.

He also added that, while he understood that the girl's father wanted to help her, people shouldn't take risks in dangerous situations like this one.
