Ten years to recover from tsunami

Bulldozer
It could take ten years for the countries hit by the Asian tsunami to recover.

The United Nations has described the relief effort as complicated.

Although aid has started to reach the places affected by the disaster, heavy rain and floods are making it difficult to get to some areas.

At least 150,000 people are believed to be dead following the disaster and the UN says that the exact death toll might never be known.

The UK government has pledged £50 million to help countries to recover from the disaster.

But, the British public have raised even more by donating £60 million pounds to charity.

There have been reports that the aid is not being well distributed, as it is badly organised.

There are prayer services being held around the country for the victims of the disaster which was caused by an earthquake in the Indian Ocean.

Prayers are being said at places of all different faiths, including Sandringham where the Queen goes to church.
