'Batmobile' car bids for record

A state-of-the-art car which looks like the Batmobile is bidding to break a long-standing steam car speed record.

The car - called Inspiration - has been designed to travel at more than 200mph. The finishing touches are being put to the vehicle by a British-led team.

It should make light work of the record of 127mph, which was set nearly 100 years ago in America.

Designer Glynne Bowsher has a great track record - he worked on record breaking cars Thrust 2 and ThrustSCC.

His team, the British Steam Car Challenge (BSCC), also hope their car will get people thinking about alternative fuels for the future, which do not rot the environment.
