We scoff 154 choccie bars a year

The average person in Britain chomps through 154 choccie bars a year, according to a report.

It means the UK has more chocoholics than other major European countries.

Brits get through 10kg a year, compared with 8.3kg in Germany, 5.8kg in France and 3.8kg in Spain. We spend an average of 6.30 per kilogram on choccie.

The UK chocolate market is expected to be worth 3.6m this year, but it's grown by less than 1% - probably due to fears about fat content and obesity.

It's thought that choccie makers will respond to this by coming up with more sugar-free products.
