F1: Six drivers contest US Prix

Schumacher on the podium

Michael Schumacher said he had mixed feelings after winning a US Grand Prix contested by just six drivers.

Fourteen drivers pulled out of the race in a safety row about tyres.

Tyre-maker Michelin said it couldn't guarantee the drivers' safety unless the course was made less dangerous, so teams using its tyres pulled out.

That left just Ferrari, Jordan and Minardi to contest the race. "Naturally my feelings are very mixed," said Schumacher, who drives for Ferrari.

His team-mate Rubens Barrichello came second, with Jordan's Tiago Monteiro in third.

Schumacher's first victory of the season saw him move to third place in the drivers' table, behind leader Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen.
