Boy dancer 'picked on by bullies'

Scene from the film
A budding Billy Elliot has been taken out of school because he was being bullied, according to his mum.

Shaine Young, 11, is training to be a dancer and has been selected to perform for the English Youth Ballet.

His mum has removed him from classes at his school in Norwich, claiming he has suffered physical abuse and been teased over his love of dancing.

The hit film Billy Elliot is about a boy dancer who gets teased. It's also been turned into a stage show.

Shaine wrote a letter to his local newspaper about his experiences.

"When I get bullied, I feel sad, unhappy and upset inside," he said.

The school said it was keen to work with Shaine and his mum to get any problems sorted out.

"Ours is a school which cares very much for its children," said the headteacher.
