Girls Aloud hold on to top spot

Girls Aloud
The BBC Children In Need charity single by Girls Aloud has held on to its place at the top of the chart.

I'll Stand By You remained at number one despite fierce competition from four new top 10 entries.

Geri Halliwell was new at four with Ride It, followed by Nelly and Christina Aguilera's Tilt Ya Head Back.

Brian McFadden's Irish Son went in at six and Shania Twain's Party For Two debuted at 10. Destiny's Child stayed at two and Lemar made up the top three.

In the album chart, veteran supergroup U2 stormed straight to number one with How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb.

It meant Eminem's Encore slipped to number two and Robbie's Greatest Hits went down to number three.
