Has anti-bullying week made a difference?

Did anti bullying week make a difference?
Last week was anti-bullying week.

There were schemes going on around the country to highlight the problems of bullying, led by the Radio 1 wristbands campaign, where kids were encouraged to wear blue bands to show they were making a stand against the bullies.

But did the week make any difference? Did the bully bands work?

Or do you think bullying went on as much as ever and weeks like this don't really work.

I think the fact that all the celebs are wearing the wristband will make a difference, because it might make people realise that it's not cool to bully.
Izzy, 12, Bath

I didn't even know it was anti-bullying week last week, and neither did the bullies at my school.
Shona, 13, Norfolk

Our school has made a big improvement! The bands improved our school greatly and it really amazing how such a small item, like a wristband, can make a huge difference!
Laurel, 14

I think wristbands are a very good idea, but I don't think it will make a big change to bullying.
Oscar, 11, Canterbury

I think that the wristbands will give the victims of bullying more confidence, and getting the celebs involved is a fab idea!
Helen, 16, West Yorkshire

Ugh... I'm sorry, but in one school near me, it's made it a whole lot worse. Bullies are stupid, everyone knows that, and so they came up with a stupid idea... they basically thought "Hey! Everyone who's wearing a wristband must be scared of bullying!" So they decided to bully the people wearing wristbands. So, it's made a difference, but not a good one.
Rosie, 13, London

I've ordered one and I really hope if loads of people wear them, it will make a difference. I support it 100%
Clare, 13, York

I think the bands will make a difference as the bullies will be intimidated. Also they might look up to the stars who have appealed and then think it is wrong and stop.
Chris, 12, Claygate

I don't think it made a difference.
Matthew, 7, Bradford

No-one should be bullied. Everyone should wear a blue band.
Gizelle, 13, Barnet

Any steps to making people more aware are going to make a difference.
Aimee, 15, Brighton

I was bullied until I told someone, so I think it is a good idea to the blue bands and it won't make you a easy target.
John, 10, Norwich

I see people getting bullied all the time. Even if it seems to the people doing it, that it's just a joke, I think it's unfair because they are usually unable to defend themselves. I think the bands have just made bullies think that the wearers are going to stick up for themselves and therefore will get bullied more.
Jack, 15, Gravesend

Any steps to making people more aware are going to make a difference.
Aimee, 15, Brighton

I think bullying is cruel and disgusting, I should know because I was bullied. The wrist bands are a great idea but it won't stop them all the time. Even so, I am still getting one.
Emily, 11, Yeovil

I have never heard of anti-bullying week! I don't think it will make a difference though.
Liz, 12, Portsmouth

No I don't think it has made any difference.
Gothika, 14, Sheffield

I never heard of this anywhere or seen anyone wearing it in my school. I only ever heard about it on the news.
Raika, 13, London

I don't think it's made any difference whatsoever. Every week is a national something week.
Amy-Rose, 13, Sutton Coldfield

No, I don't think anti-bullying week has made a difference at all. Because teachers always have to try to stop bullying, no matter what special week it is.
Ryan, 12, Brighton

Bullying is also common here in the Philippines. I was also bullied until the sixth grade. Then, I tranferred schools and it lessened. Now, I'm really fine because I made a stand against the bullies at school. I wish that I could have a band also but it's only for those living in UK.
Andrea, 16, Philippines

I think that anti-bullying week has helped to some extent. It has helped people to join in the campaign to stop bullying and the wristbands are a way to show other people and bullies that they are against it as many people are wearing them. I think these campaigns are a good way to stop bullying and help bullies to realise that so many people don't agree with it.
Emma, 16, Liverpool

I didn't even know it was anti -bullying week! So it can't have made much of a difference!
Lucy, 12, Birmingham

The only anti-bullying things I've heard are what has been in the news and what's on this website. My school have done nothing and I think it's time someone either said something or did something to make bullies think twice.
Hannah, 14, West Sussex

I think the bully bands are a good idea because they will stop bullies from bullying people.
Nathan, 11

They haven't made any difference at my school. People are still bullying other people. I hope they will make a difference but I am wondering if a piece of rubber will stop people being so horrible to others.
Maisy, 14, Southampton

Anti-bullying week was a great idea but I didn't see anything changing at my school. I think the wrist-bands will help.
Stephen, 14, Dunfermline

I think it was a good idea but people might be bullied because they're wearing them - they might be called a swat or something like that.
Lauren, 13, Pontefract

I think that it didn't work at my school because I still have been getting bullied.
Craig, 13, Seaham

I think anti-bullying week is pointless because people are always going to be bullied and the bullies aren't going to stop bullying just because of anti-bullying week. A couple of celebrities saying a poem is not going to change peoples ideas on bullying.
Izy, 10, Essex

Anti bullying hasn't really helped. Yes it makes some people stop, but I still see it going on around me. Bullies don't understand and neither do most people that bullying someone just doesn't have to be hitting them. Bullying can also affect some one mentally. I get picked on and called names every day and have done for about 3 years, it really gets to me and the bullies don't understand. I go home crying sometimes even though they are just pathetic names!
Amy, 15, Scunthorpe

Anti-bullying week was not mentioned at my school. I think it should have been.
Sophie, 9, Richmond

No it's made no difference whatsoever. Yes it has made more awareness of the big problem of bullying, but it's not done anything to stop the problem.
Sonia, 15, Leicester

Didn't make the slightest bit of difference at my school.
Amanda, 14, Manchester

I think it was a good idea but I still saw bullying going on at my school. But I hope the wristbands will help in the future.
