Kids on way to being shopaholics

People shopping
Children as young as 10 are on their way to becoming addicted to shopping, according to a new report.

A thousand girls and boys were asked about their shopping habits and eight out of 10 in the 10-12 age-group said they enjoy shopping.

But the same number admitted they buy things they don't need, in the survey by the National Consumer Council.

Kids living in the East Midlands liked shopping the most, those in the South West and East Anglia liked it least.

It's thought that adverts and pressure from friends could be fuelling kids' shopping obsession.

The survey was done to celebrate Buy Nothing Day on 27 November, where people are challenged to switch off from spending and stay clear of the shops.
