How serious is the problem?

The UN has described the situation in Darfur as "the worst humanitarian crisis in the world today."

Most of the people in the camps have absolutely nothing except the basic food and shelter supplies they have been given from the aid agencies.

Families were forced to flee from their homes without even basic clothing. Many who relied on their cattle for food and income which they lost when their villages were destroyed.

Around 10, 000 people are dying each month from starvation and disease.

Nearly two million people are dependent on aid.
