What is a refugee camp?

It's a collection of tents and shelters that are home to refugees. Some of the larger camps are home to thousands of people and rows of tents stretch for miles.

Refugee camps are usually run by charities like the Red Cross, Unicef and Save The Children. The charities help supply the refugees with tents, food and basics such as buckets, cooking pans and bowls.

However the camps are getting very overcrowded and the aid agencies are struggling to cope. There's not enough food to go around and despite the best efforts of aid agencies thousands are dying of starvation and disease.
