Showbiz CV: Emma is a very well-known British actress and has been in loads of classic films, often playing comedy roles. Acting is in her blood too, as both her parents were actors.

She took acting classes when she was nine, but she was more interesting in reading apparently!

Emma won a best actress Oscar in 1993 for her role in the period film Howard's End, and she won another in 1996 for writing the screenplay for Sense and Sensibility.

And, in 2001, she was named the fifth greatest British film actress of all time by the Orange Film Survey.

Movie magic: About her role in Potter, she said: "I have a nervous breakdown in the film and in one scene I get to stand at the top of the stairs waving an empty sherry bottle which is, of course, a typical scene from my daily life, so isn't much of a stretch."
