Last Updated: Friday February 25 2005 10:38 GMT

What is a cull?

Culling means reducing the number of animals in a population, by killing some of them. It can also be about removing animals that are sick or weak from a herd or flock.

Culling occurs all over the world, almost anywhere that humans and animals come into contact.
