What is Super Tuesday?

Super Tuesday is a Tuesday in February or March when lots of US states all vote in their primaries together.

The states are:

• California
• Connecticut
• Georgia
• Maryland
• Massachusetts
• Minnesota
• New York
• Ohio
• Rhode Island
• Vermont

The sheer number of delegates at stake on Super Tuesday makes it the biggest round of the Democrat contest.

In 2008, Super Tuesday was on 5 February.
