Hurricanes, cyclones and typhoons are all storms with winds faster than 74 mph, but have different names depending on where they appear:

• Hurricanes in the North Atlantic Ocean and North Eastern Pacific Ocean
• Typhoons in the North Western Pacific Ocean
• Cyclones in the Indian Ocean and south of the Equator.
