Longboards
These are easier to balance for beginners. They also catch smaller waves which is important in the UK in summer.

Nu-skool tricks
With a shorter board and a mid-sized break you can cut across the front or face of the wave and do tricks.

Big wave
This is the most extreme end of the sport, with some waves up to 12 metres high.

Wipe out here and it hurts!
