The successor to the Game Boy and Game Boy Colour, the Game Boy Advance went on sale in the UK in June 2001.

By April 2002, Nintendo was celebrating selling one million consoles in the UK.
The Advance can also be used as a controller for the GameCube.
An updated version, the Game Boy Advance SP, went on sale in Japan on 14 February 2003, and in the UK on 28 March.
