Darkness lead race at Brit Awards
Updated 13 January 2004, 17.48
The Darkness are up for four awards
The Darkness are set to shine at the Brit Awards 2004 after getting an impressive four nominations.

The rockers are up for best British group, best British breakthrough, best British rock act and best British album for Permission To Land.

The awards will be handed out at London's Earls Court on 17 February.

Now there are reports that the 2006 bash could take place in Glasgow after Scotland successfully hosted the MTV Europe Awards in Edinburgh last year.

As for this year, Busted have done really well - they're up for three prizes, as are Daniel Bedingfield and Dizzee Rascal.

Busted have been nominated for best pop act and best British group.

Busted have got three nominations
This is great news for Mattie, James and Charlie as they're often criticised for being a throwaway pop act, yet they're up against people like The Darkness, The Coral and Radiohead.

Rachel Stevens will be chuffed too with a nomination for the hotly-contested best British single. Sweet Dreams (My La-Ex) is up against tracks like White Flag by Dido, Scandalous by Mis-Teeq and Gareth Gates and the Kumars' version of Spirit in the Sky.

Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera have done well with nominations in many of the international categories - they're up for best artist and international album.
