Mandy was voted to be the top song of the year in a live phone poll on Saturday night in the sixth annual event hosted by Cat Deeley.

Busted's Year 3000 came in second place, and Daniel Bedingfield was close behind in third place with his track If You're Not the One.

The Westlife lads said they were "shocked and amazed" to get the gong.

They went on to say: "We didn't know what was going to happen - we haven't been nominated for the past two years. It's unbelievable."
