  The Darkness shine at Kerrang! 2003 awards

Best live act and album winners, the Darkness
British rock act the Darkness were the brightest stars at the Kerrang! 2003 Awards.

They won two gongs, including best album and best live act, and opened the show with their new single, I Believe in a Thing Called Love.

500 people attended the awards show, which took place at London's Royal Lancaster Hotel. They were presented by Edith Bowman and Colin Murray.

Rock!

Veteran US rockers Metallica were honoured by being put into Kerrang!'s Hall of Fame, and Good Charlotte picked up the best single award for Lifestyles of The Rich and Famous.

Electric Six got the best video prize for their completely mad video Gay Bar, and lead singer Dick Valentine showed up for half an hour before rushing off to play a gig elsewhere.

Linkin Park, who got best international live act, were also performing, as were Good Charlotte.
