Former S Club star Jon Lee showed off his singing talents in his debut performance in the West End musical Les Miserables - and got a standing ovation!

S Club fans went wild as he took the curtain call - and all his old S Club bandmates turned up to cheer him on too.

Jon told Newsround after the show: "I think it went very well, I felt very good about it. The audience was fantastic."

Les Miserables is one of the world's longest running musicals.

Opera style

In it, Jon plays Marius - a student who gets caught up in a revolution on the streets of 19th Century Paris.

And Jon admitted it was a lot different from his pop singing days.

"I didn't sing any lead vocals in S Club, so it was great to get out on stage on my own.

"The main difference is not having a full-out dance routine - this is more of an opera."

Former S Club star Hannah was very impressed with Jon's singing.

"I cried when he sang Empty Chairs at Empty Tables!" she told Newsround.

Tight trousers

Jon's staying with the hit musical for 11 months and he'll be doing 8 shows a week.

But he said one of the hardest parts was getting so hot under the stage lights and having to wear a ponytail wig.

"Trying to clamber around the barricade in the tightest trousers known to man was actually quite painful!" he added.
