  Glastonbury festival line-up announced
Updated 30 May 2003, 16.43
The bands for the Glastonbury Festival have been announced
The acts that will be playing at the Glastonbury Festival have been revealed, a month before the sold-out festival starts.

There have been rumours about who will be playing at the festival for a while, but on Friday the website for the event said exactly who will be appearing.

Fact File

The site confirmed REM would be the main act on the Friday night, Radiohead the Saturday and Moby on the Sunday.

No rock

There is no heavy rock on the bill for the three-day festival, because organisers are worried the type of fans they attract might make things unsafe.

There are 11 different stages at the festival, ranging from the main stage where all the biggest acts play to the dance tent and acoustic tent.

When tickets go on sale in April the acts aren't announced, so no one who buys a ticket knows which bands they will be able to watch.

Even so the festival still sold more than 100,000 tickets in less than 24 hours.
