Robbie backs kids who copy music
Updated 20 January 2003, 10.53
Robbie Williams
Singer Robbie Williams supports kids who copy - instead of buy - the music they want.

What the music business calls piracy is "a great idea", he says.

Music piracy costs the record industry millions of pounds every year.

And Robbie admits his own record company, EMI, will hate him for speaking out.

But he says: "There is nothing anyone can do about it."

The music industry faces the problem of tracks being downloaded free of charge off the internet.

But companies hope they will be able to control the amount of illegal sites and encourage people to start to pay to download music from proper sites.
