David Sneddon on target for top spot
Updated 15 January 2003, 17.59

Fame Academy winner David Sneddon is on course to be number one in the charts on Sunday, ending Girls Aloud's four-week run at the top.

The Scottish singer should be enjoying his first number one with a song he wrote himself, Stop Living A Lie.

But he's not selling anything like as many copies of his single as other reality TV stars have done in their first week of release.

Feeder are also hoping to chart highly
Feeder are also hoping to chart highly
Around 20,000 copies of his single were snapped up on its first day in the shops, much less than Will Young's debut single Evergreen/Anything is Possible, which sold a whopping 1.1m.

Even Girls Aloud sold 40,000 on their first day, but apart from fellow Popstars: The Rivals band One True Voice, there was very little competition that week.

Loads of singles out this week

David will have to fight off fierce competition from loads of other people if he is going to be number one, including Feeder, Rosie Ribbons, Zoe Birkett, Panjabi MC and Busted.

For more on Feeder's bid to hit the top spot, check out Wednesday's Newsround Lite.
