A1 split, but say they'll be back
Updated 30 October 2002, 09.11
A1
A1 have reached the end of the road as a band - for a while at least.

The boys have said on their website that they are taking some time out from the band to work on some solo stuff.

Ben, Christian and Mark have been together for five years, but the band were rocked earlier in October when Paul quit the group.

Fact File
What are the solo projects?
Mark is writing songs with Rob Davis - who's written stuff for Kylie
Christian is working with a new Norwegian artist
Ben is working on a solo album
Paul is spending more time with his family
Now the three remaining members have also parted ways, but say it definitely isn't the end of A1.

But before A1 return to the top of the charts they'll have to look for a new record deal because they've also split from Sony.

They say they will be playing some gigs as part of the Smash Hits tour in Nottingham and Newcastle, have several more lined up and are also writing some new material together.
