The stage at Glastonbury

By Adam Fleming
CBBC Newsround Online at Glastonbury

Newsround's Adam Fleming spent the weekend chilling out in a field in Glastonbury.

Here he reports on what it was like and whether the toilets really were that bad!

Everyone was really chilled out and happy and really pleased to be there. There were so many different kinds of people about - from people whose fave bands were Mis-Teeq, to people who thought Slipknot were too poppy.

The super-fence had worked very well because it was hard to get in and security guards were very strict. I had to go through two check points to get into the festival, and another one to get past the guards backstage.

Will was on the run!

Backstage was very exciting - there were lots of celebs like Coldplay, people from TV shows and stars Natasha and Jenny from Atomic Kitten.

But the biggest star by far was Will Young, who we met out in the field with all the non-showbiz people.

Will was sitting down and chilling out to Starsailor with his sister. I chatted to him for a bit about how he had to keep on moving every time he found a really nice spot to stop and listen to the music.

Everyone kept on recognising him so he was always on the run.

His sister moaned that Will needs to change his trademark blue and white woolly hat so that he would be able to hide in crowds without being recognised.

Loads to do

Backstage the toilets were better and the queues much shorter. The normal toilets were stinky - I'm sure you can imagine how many times 100,000 people need to go to the toilet over five days.

The smell from some of them was unforgettable!

I have never eaten so many burgers in one day! But there was loads of veggie food too, and tons and tons of noodles!

But the best thing about Glastonbury was that there was something for everyone. There was loads of other stuff to do, apart from just enjoying the music.

You could do things like DJ workshops, to climbing frames, from gigantic chess boards to a giant outdoor cinema - and all this was free.

And the great news is that Glastonbury is going to be back in 2003 - but I think next time I quite fancy a bigger tent!
