Asher D aka Ashley Walters

Ashley started acting when he was young. He went to the world famous Sylvia Young Stage School at the age of seven and had a part in the musical Oliver.

He went on to play Andy Phillips in BBC1's Grange Hill in 1997 and had minor parts in the cop series The Bill in 2001.

TV and films

He's also appeared in several TV dramas and short films, including a BBC2 drama called Storm Damage.

In it Ashley, who was only 16 at the time, played the lead role of Stefan.

During filming, he got his GCSE results, passing all 10 with good grades.

He also had a part in a 1999 TV drama about the mudrer of black teenager Stephen Lawrence.

Jealousy

But he's said that his success made people jealous and he was often attacked on the estate where he lived in Brixton, south London.

As a rapper with garage act So Solid Crew, the father-of-two has been tasting even more success.

The group's single 21 Seconds went to number one and they won a Brit for the video.

But their gigs have been dogged by violence and several have been cancelled.
