Rumours have been flying for months about whether the pair had been having a cyber romance but it was always hotly denied.

Now the Sun newspaper says the pop superstar came clean during her appearance on The Frank Skinner Show.

It reports an audience member says the 20-year-old and the royal talked about going out for a meal but, sadly, nothing came of it.

Comedian Frank apparently asked Britney how she'd contacted the prince and she admitted it was all done via e-mail.

And she reportedly implied they had e-mailed each other a lot.

So Frank told her she'd do better going out with Wills' younger brother Harry because "he's more fun"!
