Matthew chills with the MTV stars
Updated 08 November 2001, 13.57
Dido talks to the press in Frankfurt
Newsround's Matthew Price has been hanging out with the stars in Frankfurt for this year's MTV Europe Music Awards.

In this exclusive web report, he describes his hunt for the latest gossip!

You can also hear Matthew's report by clicking on the headphone link above.

"You'd never know the biggest names in pop and showbiz are in town.

It's miserable, rainy, cold and without any touch of glamour in Frankfurt today.

You really have to search for the stars - which at half past eleven on the eve of Europe's biggest music awards was exactly what I did.

Star spotting

We tracked down where they're staying, hailed a cab, walked straight in - and within minutes were hanging out in a room full of celebrities!

Limp Bizkit's Fred Durst chillin' with Matt
It was cool to be blocking Shaggy's view of the TV, catching the eye of Limp Bizkit's Fred Durst, squeezing past Basement Jaxx and joking around with Craig David's band.

Ali G

I grabbed a few words with Ali G's team who are hosting the event. They've got some surprises up their sleeve, including an embarrassing moment for Shaggy. A bit of toilet humour they said.

Awards

Gorillaz have been nominated for a massive six awards, so they surely have to take one home, perhaps Best Video for Clint Eastwood.

Best Dance is a tricky one to predict, but DJ Roger Sanchez told Newsround the other day that he reckons Basement Jaxx have got it.

Best Rock could well go to Limp Bizkit.

Best Male and Female awards? It's anyone's guess, but I'd like to see something go to Shaggy and Dido for a change.

And if anyone deserves Best Song, it's got to be Eminem for Stan.

Catch Matthew on Thursday and Friday's Newsround on CBBC One at 5.25pm - and all the reports on the ceremony right here on CBBC Newsround Online.
