World leaders balance protecting the environment against making money. Normally making money comes out on top.

The summit was about getting a better deal for the environment.

Difficult questions

  • Fresh water: Can we give people safe clean water without upsetting nature?

  • Poverty: People in poor countries want the lifestyle we enjoy. Can they have it without polluting the planet?

  • Biodiversity: The number of different plants and animals in the world is falling. Can we save endangered animals?

  • Energy: Can we change the way we live so we use less energy and make it more cleanly?
