What was it?
A meeting to talk about how we can improve people's lives in a way that does not damage our environment.

When and where?
The World Summit on Sustainable Development happened in Johannesburg, South Africa. It ran from 26 August to 4 September 2002.

Who went?
Tens of thousands of people went. The most important visitors were the members of governments from around the world.

They had the power to make big changes.
