Margaret Hodge The minister for children

Margaret Hodge is the minister for children. She's is in charge of things that the government does relating to children and family life.

Some of the things she looks after are :

  • Trying to stop teenage pregnancies
  • Laws about families
  • Laws that protect children at risk

One reason why this new job has been set up was a report into the death of an eight-year-old called Victoria Climbie.

The report said that some children were not getting the protection they needed because no one knew which politician was in charge of things to do with children.
