Churchill escaped death in New York in 1931 when he was hit by a car travelling at about 30mph. He had to spend eight days in hospital.
For most of his life, Churchill suffered from depression. He called his dark moods his 'Black Dog'.
He once said that the 'U-boat peril' (his fear of German submarines) was the only thing that ever really frightened him during World War Two.
Churchill loved to paint. He created over 500 works during his life and was made an honorary member of the Royal Academy of Art.
