What is intelligence?
Intelligence is the information gathered by governments to help protect them against attacks from enemies or people they think might become enemies.

You might think of spies as being like James Bond, doing really exciting and dangerous stuff, but actually they're civil servants - people who work for the government.

People working in intelligence often have to lie to their friends and families about what they do because it's all so top secret.
