Diana was also the big royal news event of the 90s.

This time the story was not so happy. Charles and Diana split up.

Diana said Charles had never loved her and the Queen had not treated her very well.

Many people felt sorry for Diana. Some blamed the Queen for the divorce.

When Diana was killed in a car crash the British people were very upset.

Some of the upset turned into anger with Charles and the Queen.

This was a very difficult time for the Queen.
