The Fringe is now seen as the world's largest arts gathering. You can see everything from juggling to opera, mime to panto, theatre to dance.

What's more the performances are on all day and all night and take place pretty much anywhere.

Fringe venues include theatres, cafes, bars, churches and even on top of a telephone box!

Fringe facts:

  • It would take you four years and 143 days to see every performance back-to-back.

  • 12,940 people will perform on the Edinburgh Fringe stages

  • 10% of all shows at Fringe 2003 are free to watch

  • Fringe acts are held at 207 venues
