The trial started on 30 January 2002 at the Old Bailey in London and lasted three months.

A 14-year-old girl was the key witness but the judge threw her evidence out of court and she was branded a liar.

All four teenagers were eventually cleared of all the charges and walked free on 25 April 2002.

10m had been spent on the investigation and the trial.
