Oscar winner Russell Crowe What categories are there?
The most important Oscar is the Best Picture prize, given to the best film.

But the best actor and best actress in a leading role are really important too.

Recent winners include people like Russell Crowe, Tom Hanks, Julia Roberts and Gwyneth Paltrow.

Oscars are also given out for things like direction, music, costumes, make-up, writing and sound.
