JRR Tolkien in Oxford Who wrote it?
The three books of The Lord of the Rings were written by John Ronald Reuel Tolkien and published in 1954.

He was born in 1892 and later became a professor of English at Oxford University.

He also wrote a book called The Hobbit for his children - it features characters who also appear in Lord of the Rings.

Tolkien died in 1973, but his name lives through the millions who read his books worldwide.
