  • Will Young's first single, Evergreen/Anything Is Possible sold over a million copies in its first week and became the fastest selling debut single of all time.

  • The Pop Idol TV final pulled in a whopping 14 million viewers.

  • Pop Idol was invented in the UK and sold to other countries around the world and was particularly successful in the USA.

  • Popstars was invented in Australia and then sold around the world.

  • The band to win the German version of Popstars was called No Angels. After getting to number one with their debut single, they split up.

  • Seven out of the 11 UK Pop Idol finalists have so far released singles that have made it into the UK charts.

  • Fame Academy was first shown in Spain where a third of the population watched the final episode.
