The Australians were on winning form in 2001 What are The Ashes?
The Ashes is the name given to a series of cricket matches between England and Australia which are played every two years. Whoever wins the series, 'wins The Ashes'.

The matches are held alternately in England and Australia. They consist of a series of five Test matches, each lasting up to five days.
