Pro-gun groups think banning guns does not and has not worked.
They say it is easy to get an illegal gun. Making hand guns illegal has removed the control that the government had over them when they were in legal, registered clubs.
They also say that in Switzerland, where every family must have a gun, gun crime is very low.
