A very famous Doctor is visiting Cardiff!
Updated 01 August 2004, 12.03
Christopher Eccleston plays the new Doctor Who
The sci-fi classic Doctor Who which was first shown in the 60s is to return to our TV screens.

The new series is currently being filmed in Wales and in her report Bethan, from Cardiff, tells us how everyone is trying to catch a glimpse of all the action.

"BBC crews which are filming the new Doctor Who television programme have invaded Cardiff!

The programme starring Billie Piper and Christopher Eccleston has taken over the streets and shops.

Streets closed

It's really exciting having such a famous programme being filmed in my home city.

The filming has caused two of Cardiff's streets to be closed.

A city centre pub was also closed for the use of the crew and in order for it to be transformed into a police station that will appear in the series.

They also used a local department store to accommodate some of the filming.

Night shoots

All the filming has taken place in the night, which meant unfortunately there hasn't been a chance to see Billie or Christopher in action.

But fans of the programme have been in the streets watching some of the cameras being moved and lorries arriving.

Local news stations have also been following the story, showing parts of the filming, and newspaper reports have shown pictures of the sets used.

Everyone has been very excited!"
