I took my dog to canine camp
Updated 30 July 2004, 08.35
Liam and Angus
The annual Young Kennel Club training camp is where dog owners and their dogs take part in a week of activities such as agility, obedience and grooming.

Liam has been there, with his dog Angus, and in his report he tells us what he got up to.

"I train a Flat coated Retriever whose name is Angus and is three and a half years old.

This year is my third year at camp and I hope it won't be my last!

At the Young Kennel Club camp there is a wide range of activities which are fun for everyone.

Ball in a box

There is flyball which is a fun and fast event. This is where your dog jumps over some hurdles, then there's a box which they must touch.

A ball is released from the box then the dog runs back over the hurdles again.

Agility training is fun and energetic.

Training camp
The dogs do lots of different jumps, they walk along planks and there's even a see-saw!

Tricks to music

Obedience is all about getting the dog to sit, stay, walk etc.

Heelwork to music is about the dog doing tricks to music - twisting, turning and jumping.

Strong friendships

I think Angus loves the agility activity as he gets to run around a lot.

After training we are given activities which bring us together and build stronger friendships.

It definitely was a week to remember."
